Equitel | Riziki Cover Lite

Equitel subscribers now have access to a mobile-based insurance product, called Riziki Cover that eases the financial burden associated with lost daily income from one’s employment or personal business in case of hospital admission.

How much does Riziki cover cost?

Riziki Cover Insurance is FREE to certain Equitel customers, depending on how much airtime or bills you pay via My Money in a certain month.

How do I qualify for free Riziki cover?

To qualify, you must :

Be an Equitel customer
Complete a one-time registration by dialing *745# OR sending the word 'EQUITY' to 74035 and following the easy steps.
Spend at least Ksh 100 airtime on your Equitel line OR carry out M-banking transactions of at least Ksh 1000 in one month to get free coverage for the next month, for example, if you spend at least Ksh 100 in January, you will receive free insurance in February.
Spend at least Ksh 100 AND perform M-banking transactions of at least Ksh 1000 in a month, to receive double the benefits for the next month.

Please note that you must continue to meet the criteria each month to get coverage for the next month.

What are the benefits of Riziki Cover?

The benefits for Riziki Cover as below:

Additional benefits include:

Riziki Cover will pay you an amount per night that you stay overnight in a hospital. Customers are eligible for this benefit if they have stayed 3 or more nights in a row in a hospital. This benefit will be paid for every night of stay, from the first night. There is a maximum benefit equivalent to 30 nights during a 12-month period.

The benefit amount is not meant to cover the costs of medical care, but can be used as you wish. For example, it could be used to replace some of the income lost due to hospitalization or to cover some of the additional costs often incurred along with hospitalization like medicines, food, or transportation.
The benefit amount will be paid to you as the Equitel subscriber into your Equity Bank account.

When does my cover start?

Your cover will start immediately when you register for insurance provided you have qualified for cover based on your previous months' Equitel activity. Each future month the coverage runs from the first day of the calendar month through the last day of the calendar month.

For instance, if you sign up on April 16, you will receive coverage from April 16-30. Your next month's coverage would go from May 1-31 provided you meet the loyalty criteria again in April.

What does Riziki Cover cover?

The cover is only for the registered Equitel subscriber. No additional people may be covered by Riziki Cover.

How long is my cover for?

Your cover is valid for one calendar month.

If you want to extend cover to the next month, you must meet the criteria again in the current month (spend at least Ksh 100 or perform M-banking transactions of at least Ksh 1000).

This product is an Equitel promotion and may be discontinued in the future, with at least one month’s notice given to customers.
