Equitel subscribers can now check their credit status and access reports through an SMS service from international credit bureau, TransUnion.

Equitel subscribers can now check their credit status and access reports through an SMS service from international credit bureau, TransUnion.

The Nipashe SMS service by TransUnion will enable Equitel users to better understand their credit status by giving them a detailed overview of their outstanding debts from various financial institutions that are listed by the bureau. The real time visibility of one’s credit status will in turn enable Equitel subscribers better manage their loan borrowing patterns.

Equity Bank recently announced that digitizing of banking products would be an area of focus for the lender. Mobile loans are now the preferred borrowing channels as opposed to accessing the credit facilities through physical bank branches.
